Taking a jibe at the "relevance" of democracy in the light of the ongoing protests, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor, Kavinder Gupta said "Jammuites are in pain. Has the government got pain killers?"
Accusing the Centre of being "indifferent" to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir over the Amarnath land transfer row, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor, Kavinder Gupta today said he would boycott the Independence Day function.
"Considering the behaviour of the Centre, I have taken a painful decision of not participating in government- organised Independence Day function," he said in a statement.
Though the region has been "burning" since last 45 days, the Centre is not concerned about the gravity of the situation, he added.
